Product Features

Strainer Valve for Pipeline Protection

Our industrial strainers catch unwanted particles in the flowing medium before they reach the equipment downstream, and they are built to match your line and operating conditions.

✓

Robust Body Construction

Strainer bodies are available in carbon steel, stainless steel, ductile iron and forged steel, chosen to suit your media and operating conditions.

⚙

Stainless Steel Screen

SS 304 and SS 316 screens are standard options. Monel and duplex stainless steel can be discussed for more demanding media.

◆

Efficient Straining Area

The screen gives a good straining area, so the fluid keeps moving through the pipeline while the particles stay behind.

+

Easy Cleaning

The screen can be taken out through the cover for cleaning, so routine maintenance does not need the whole strainer to be removed from the line.

◉

Y Type Strainer

The Y Type Strainer is a compact choice for pipelines where a simple, space-saving strainer is needed.

★

Built to Your Requirement

Size, pressure, material, end connection and mesh are all decided with you, instead of supplying one fixed design for every job.

Manufacturer & Supplier

Strainer Valve Manufacturer & Industrial Strainer Supplier

We make our industrial strainers ourselves, so when you discuss your requirement you are talking to the people who build them. A strainer only works well when its size, material and screen suit the line it protects, and we confirm these with you before quoting.

Share your size, pressure rating, material, end connection and the particle size you want to catch, and we will recommend the matching configuration. The same applies if you are looking for a Y Type Strainer manufacturer for a specific line.

A strainer is normally installed with other valves. A gate valve on either side lets you isolate the line before opening the cover, and a swing check valve after the pump stops fluid from flowing back. We supply these too, so one enquiry can cover them.

Selection Guide

How a Strainer Works and Where to Use It

A short guide from our side to help you decide how a strainer should be selected and fitted in your line.

A

How it works

The fluid passes through a perforated or mesh screen inside the body. Solid particles larger than the openings are held back on the screen, and the clean fluid moves on to the equipment downstream.

B

Installation

The body carries a flow arrow, which must match the direction of the line. Fit the strainer with the screen side facing down, and keep an isolating valve on each side so the line can be shut for cleaning.

C

Choosing the mesh

A finer mesh catches smaller particles, but it also clogs sooner and needs cleaning more often. Tell us the particle size and the media, and we will help you choose a suitable perforation or mesh.

Applications

Industrial Strainer for Process and Utility Lines

Strainers are fitted where debris in the fluid could damage equipment or affect the process.

01

Pump Suction Lines

Placed before a pump to stop scale, weld spatter and other debris from entering and damaging it.

02

Steam Lines

Fitted ahead of steam traps and control equipment to keep scale and dirt away from them.

03

Water Systems

Used in industrial water lines to keep sediment and solids out of connected equipment.

04

Oil & Petroleum Lines

Suitable for oil and petroleum lines, with the body and screen selected to suit the media.

05

Chemical & Process Liquids

Stainless steel, Monel and duplex options can be considered for chemical and process liquid lines.

06

Gas & Slurry Lines

Can be specified for gas lines and for slurry lines, depending on the screen and the particle size to be retained.

Key Benefits

Why Use a Strainer Valve?

A suitable strainer keeps unwanted solid particles out of the process flow before the medium reaches downstream equipment.

✓
Protects Connected Equipment Helps keep unwanted particles out of pumps, valves and other equipment on the line.
✓
Particle Filtration The screen holds back particles according to the mesh or perforation you select.
✓
Easy Screen Cleaning The removable screen can be reached through the cover for cleaning and routine maintenance.
✓
Multiple Material Options Body and screen materials are selected to suit your application.
✓
Custom Mesh Options Mesh and perforation sizes, including custom micron ratings, can be specified for the particle size you need to hold back.
01

Mesh & Perforation Selection

Perforated screens with 1 mm to 5 mm holes and mesh from 20 to 200 are available, with custom micron ratings on request.

Common Questions

Strainer Valve FAQs

Answers to the questions we are asked most often about our strainers.

Are you a Strainer Valve manufacturer or only a supplier?

We are both. Xstem Valve Industries manufactures strainers and also supplies them to industrial customers, so you deal with the maker directly.

What types of strainers do you offer?

Our range covers Y-Type, T-Type and Bucket strainers. Tell us your line and the amount of debris you expect, and we will suggest the right type.

Which screen materials are available?

Stainless steel 304, stainless steel 316, Monel and duplex stainless steel, in perforated or mesh form. Custom micron ratings are available on request.

How do I choose the right mesh size?

It depends on the size of the particles you want to hold back. A finer mesh catches smaller particles but clogs faster, so share your media and particle size and we will help you choose.

How often does the screen need cleaning?

It depends on how much debris your fluid carries. A rise in pressure drop across the strainer is the usual sign that the screen needs cleaning. The removable screen and the drain connection make this easy.

What should I send to get a quotation?

Please share the size, pressure class, body material, screen type and mesh, end connection, media and temperature, plus your delivery location, through our contact page.
